Hi Lovelies!
Last week I had the opportunity to attend the CMA Gala with my Tangerine work family. Although we didn’t win an award this time around, it was great to be surrounded by industry professionals who were recognized for their creativity and hard work. I felt inspired and had a ton of fun bonding with the team (they’re quite amazing). Keep scrolling for outfit details and more pictures from that night.
The Little Black Dress:
I found this dress at M for Mendocino the day before the CMA Gala. It was pure luck since I don’t always shop at that store but I thought I’d pop by. After trying on a few dresses, the one that was on sale with an additional 30% off fit the best. It ended up being less than $30! I’m not sure if they’re still available at the store but since it was only a week ago, maybe it’s still there!
You can never go wrong with another LBD. The thick criss-cross straps are what makes this dress and I love the open back too. With the back of this dress, I had to wear a stick-on bra but I couldn’t find the one I have the morning of the gala so I had to purchase a new one. I’ve been told that the La Senza Lightly Lined Feather-Lite Backless Bra one is pretty good so out of desperation, I decided to take the plunge and drop $70 for them. I know I know, it’s double the cost of my dress but don’t judge me. I wore it throughout the whole night and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all and it stuck on pretty well. Now I know why it cost that much! I do recommend it if you often wear backless tops or dresses, this one is way better than the one that I misplaced.
Statement Piece:
When wearing a black cocktail dress, you can either keep the look very simple and elegant or add a statement piece for a bold look. This cape is one of my absolute favourite pieces in my closet – it’s so ME! I got it as a gift from a very special person while I lived in Korea so it brings back all the great memories when I wear it again. Believe it or not, it’s not something that I wear often though! Haha.
This little number was picked up from Zara at one of the main shopping areas in Seoul while I was living there. I remember that this piece looked really out of place when I saw it hanging off of an accessories rack by itself. It stopped me and made me do a double-take. Nobody was paying any attention to it but when I put it on, I instantly fell in love. My then boyfriend had a really great sense and understanding of fashion and never judged the fashion choices that I made. He saw how much I loved it and got it for me as a gift. All the good feels.

The Shoes:
I also bought these years ago at Zara while I lived in Seoul. Also love at first sight. These are the perfect balance between neutral and bold.
