3 Ways to Style: Satin Slip Dress

I’ve always loved the look of a simple satin slip dress but it has taken me a while to find the right one. A lot of them are pretty but they’re not versatile enough. I really liked this A&F Satin Slip Dress when I came across it. The shape of the neckline is flattering with a slit on the side. The satin material is also great quality that’s double layered. I bought both the black pattern as well as the light coral in size small regular. I think I could have done the petite but it was sold out and I wasn’t sure whether the slit would be higher than it already is in the regular. My torso is long so I thought for this style, the regular would work best. Also, something to note is that there’s no zipper so I’d take that into consideration when buying the dress although I’m mostly a size small at A&F. It’s currently on sale from $99 to $45 + 25% off (was 15% off but now it’s an even better deal!). Such a great price for the quality that you’re getting. I styled this dress in 3 different ways to show how versatile it is.

Happy Holidays!

It’s been so nice to take a little break over the holidays to spend time with family, friends and just let myself have some ‘me’ time. I’ve even been detoxing from social media too! How is 2019 right around the corner? Where did 2018 go? This year truly was a busy one and it flew by.

If you’re still looking for a NYE party outfit tomorrow or for the holiday parties that just couldn’t be squeezed into the last weeks of 2018, here’s a skirt that I love from Zara (act surprised!). It’s now on sale for $49.99 so drop by your nearest Zara store to pick one up or order online if you don’t need it until the new year. It is full of tiny sequins and let’s be real,  who doesn’t love a little sparkle! Scroll down below to see how I styled this skirt in 3 different ways.

My Obsession Monday: Fluffy Warm Jacket

Oct 2018 - MyObsessionMonday - Fluffy Jacket Cover copy.jpg

I’m back and I know it’s been a while. I’m sorry for being MIA – I’ll fill you in on a separate post about what I’ve been up to. It’s a passion project, just like this blog!

How is it fall already?! I had to quickly switch from light, flowy summer dresses to cozy, thick fall sweaters to adapt to the chilly weather. Fall is one of my favourite seasons so this transition is good but winter, on the other hand, will be a different story.

Just picked up this new fluffy jacket from Uniqlo and I just love mixing new obsessions with old favourites. I’ve been keeping an eye on these fluffy jackets since last year but I’m glad I waited for this one. The fit is great, it’s snug so it keeps you warm and I can wear it on its own or layer it within loose fall jackets. They also come in a range of colours – 12 to be exact! Not surprising though, I went for the black because…well, it’s black! It will be easy to incorporate with other items that I already own and you can never go wrong with a neutral.

It might seem a little early to think about Christmas presents, but this little number would make a great present! It’s honestly so warm and so comfortable.

Zara Check Dress

Sept 2017 - 2 Looks Zara Check Dress - Cover.jpg

Zara has been clearing out their summer pieces over the last little while and I must say, they honestly have the best sales! Usually, when the sale starts, the sizes are all available but it quickly gets picked up by those who keep an eye out for their seasonal sales and the sizes run low as you are going through the pages online! So if you see something you like, don’t even think twice and pick them up first, you can always return them later. That’s another thing I like about Zara, their return policy and even their mobile app are both so seamless.

As I was returning a couple things back at the store, I didn’t have the intention to shop some more at the time but I saw this loose flounce dress sticking out of the mangled clothes racks (as expected during their sale season). I took a quick glimpse at the price tag and saw that it was less than $20 so I couldn’t resist! This is also perfect for the cooler weather that is right around the corner. I can wear this with tall boots! I really like these types of short, loose flounce dress. It looks great with all different types of shoes and it’s also super flattering. See how I styled it below in two different ways that are great for a day to night look.

My Obsession Monday: Polka Dot Dress

My Obsession Monday - Zara Polka Dot Dress.jpg

Spring is finally here! I’m so excited for the warm weather, it’s been tough transitioning back into the cold weather ever since my Bali trip. You’re probably wondering why I haven’t shared any photos on my blog yet but I promise you they’re coming! This year has been hectic with work, weddings (I’m in 3!) and bachelorette trips – it’s making this year fun but leaving me with no time to blog.

Anyways, back to this polka dot dress. I absolutely love the look, it’s such a perfect transition piece. The viscose fabric is light and airy so you can layer it or wear the dress by itself. Since the weather is still chilly in Toronto, I’ve been pairing this with tights and boots while accessorizing it with a scarf for extra warmth. For when the weather warms up, I would wear this dress with a pair of light-coloured sandals and summer hat to break up the black. I’m going to be honest, I was skeptical at first about the polka dots as it’s not a print that I own but the cutting and flow of the dress sold me! I loved it even more when I tried the dress on.

Tights: Rachel’s Box – I got a chance to try a few pairs of tights from Rachel’s Box and I love the quality and fit. I wear these Black Sheer Tight the most, they’re sexy and comfortable. What’s also great about these tights is that you can get a subscription, first complete the style questionnaire as the tights are pre-selected based on your style and then choose the frequency of the delivery.

Shoes: Aldo – I bought these boots last year but these Aldo Jeffres Boots are very similar!

CMA Gala – Award Night

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

Hi Lovelies!

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the CMA Gala with my Tangerine work family. Although we didn’t win an award this time around, it was great to be surrounded by industry professionals who were recognized for their creativity and hard work. I felt inspired and had a ton of fun bonding with the team (they’re quite amazing). Keep scrolling for outfit details and more pictures from that night.

The Little Black Dress:

I found this dress at M for Mendocino the day before the CMA Gala. It was pure luck since I don’t always shop at that store but I thought I’d pop by. After trying on a few dresses, the one that was on sale with an additional 30% off fit the best. It ended up being less than $30! I’m not sure if they’re still available at the store but since it was only a week ago, maybe it’s still there!

You can never go wrong with another LBD. The thick criss-cross straps are what makes this dress and I love the open back too. With the back of this dress, I had to wear a stick-on bra but I couldn’t find the one I have the morning of the gala so I had to purchase a new one. I’ve been told that the La Senza Lightly Lined Feather-Lite Backless Bra one is pretty good so out of desperation, I decided to take the plunge and drop $70 for them. I know I know, it’s double the cost of my dress but don’t judge me. I wore it throughout the whole night and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all and it stuck on pretty well. Now I know why it cost that much! I do recommend it if you often wear backless tops or dresses, this one is way better than the one that I misplaced.

My Obsession Monday: Bomber Jacket

Zara Bomber Jacket - 1.jpg

Hi Lovelies!

It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to put some time into My Blanc Canvas and I’ve really missed it! On the flip side, I’ve been good (saving some $$) and haven’t shopped very much. The weather has also been suprisingly warm for mid-October in Toronto, so it hasn’t put the pressure/encouragement on for scouting out fall staples.

This is my first bomber jacket and I’m loving it!

My Obsession Monday: Aldo Boots

Hi everyone!

Happy #MyObsessionMonday! Hope you all had an amazing weekend. I’m excited to share with you my most recent shoe obsession. Recently I bought these two Aldo suede boots and they’re perfect for the weather now in Toronto and also during the spring season as well. The Barra style looks a lot like the Stuart Weitzman Lowland boots (which I’m completely obsessed with but it’s also at a much higher price point). The Haskova is a really versatile boot for many different occasions and outfit looks! Which one would you rock?

My Monday Obsession: Ever New Wrap Waistcoat

Hey everyone!

My obsession this week is with this Ever New wool blend waistcoat. It’s quite warm and a versatile piece for layering. I went to the Ever New launch a couple months ago and they have a good selection of trendy, cool pieces. If you haven’t checked out the store at the Toronto Eaton Centre yet, go and take a look for some fall/winter finds!
