Hi lovelies!
Happy Weekend! I’m winding down from a busy week and just recuperating from a wedding on Friday. I wish I could stay up late and still feel the same way as I did back in my early 20’s but that’s just not the case anymore. Who am I kidding!? Anyways – let’s not get carried away! But as I age, I do hope that I age gracefully (and slowly haha) and that means taking care of myself and putting my health first above everything else.
A few weeks ago I got invited to the bareMinerals preview and had the opportunity to try out some of their newest cosmetics and skincare products that will be coming to the Canadian market. Before arriving at the preview presentation, I stopped by ODIN HUS (check out more photos here!) to grab some caffeine and a bite to eat. Ever since I discovered that cafe, I like to hang out there once in a while when I’m in the area. The architecture of the interior is beautifully designed and the openness of the space makes it comfortable to stay there and relax.

To give you a slight background on my skin, it’s really hypersensitive and quite dry for the most part. I’ve struggled with eczema ever since I was a child and developed sensitivity to different things as I got older so I’m always very careful about putting new products on my face, whether it is skincare or makeup. I did a little swatch test of this bareMinerals Skinlongevity Vital Power Infusion ($60 – available at Sephora in stores and online) on my face before applying it all over. It’s already half the battle if I don’t get a reaction so when I got the green light, I applied it thoroughly all over my face and have been using it day and night over the past couple weeks. What I like about it is the smell – usually anything with fragrance or a strong smell will give me a rash but this one didn’t! It smells very citrusy and the formula is very light-weight which makes it great for summer. The 3 key ingredients are Life Long Herb, California Poppy and Lampuyang Ginger – to help awaken the skin and maintain a healthy complexion. After using this for a while, I noticed my skin looking brighter and more awake. My skin has been really taking a hard hit from the lack of sleep and stress from adult-life but this has definitely helped! Let me know in the comments below if you’ve been using this and what your thoughts are.
Got the pros to find me the perfect Gen Nude™ shade! I’m glad they didn’t pick a SUPER nude shade for me because it will make me look like I have no lips…haha! My lips just aren’t defined enough for that. I really like the ones they picked out for me.
What I’m wearing:
I tried the bareMinerals Butter Drench Restorative Rich Cream ($45 – available online at Sephora) at the preview and the consistency is really thick and rich, perfect for the upcoming winter months. Shea butter is the main ingredient used and I LOVE most skincare products that contains that when it gets cold – my skin needs that extra moisture.
I’ve loved and used the Shu Uemura Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/I for years now and I particularly like the A/I one because it is anti-inflammatory and great for dry sensitive skin type. It has helped balance out and strengthen my skin. Even though I really love the Shu Uemura one, I am always open to trying new products. So I’m looking forward to eventually giving this bareMinerals Oil Obsessed™ Total Cleansing Oil a try ($35 – available online at Sephora). Let you know how it goes when I try it!
I’m the bareMinerals barePro™ Performance Wear Powder Foundation in Golden Nude 13 ($36 – available in September 2016 at Sephora stores and online)! I’ve been using the Sephora 8HR Mattifying Compact Foundation for a very long time and I’m trying to find one that has a smoother finish and that’s less drying so we’ll see how this one goes!
LOVE the name – wonder if this will be gentle enough for my skin!
With my girl Falisia – thanks for having me!
It’s always so much fun swatching and trying out new products. I’m still working through the rest of them – but so far, no skin reactions (YAY!) and I’m liking them!
Outfit Details:
Tank: Forever 21
Blazer: Aritzia Chevalier Jacket – I bought this when it was on sale for less than $200 and although I normally don’t buy really expensive clothes, this jacket is such a great staple to have. It’s so wort the price and even better when it’s on sale! I wear this all the time and for all sorts of occasions.
Jeans: Zara – I LOVE Zara jeans, it fits my body type so well and I never really have trouble finding a pair that fits my hips, waist, butt & thighs. My trouble with jeans or bottoms is that it either fits my hips or my waist – rarely both at the same time! These jeans are especially comfortable because it’s very stretchy and the hem is raw, so it doesn’t make your ankles/legs feel restricted. Love you Zara!
Bag: Banana Republic
Shoes: Forever 21 – these really surprised me when I first bought them as they’re actually quite comfortable for Forever 21 shoes (Similar pair here from Steve Madden – currently on sale for $89.98)!
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend – thank you for reading! xx
